In large-scale wire production, maintaining a precise temperature profile across the entire length of the wire is notoriously difficult. Any fluctuation in the thermal cycle can lead to structural inconsistencies, such as uneven tensile strength or surface decarburization, which would result in high rejection rates and wasted raw materials.

FIB Bell Furnace (Annealing): Often used for batch processing of wire coils, these are recognised for their superior insulation and automated atmosphere control.

The Solution

The strategy involved the deployment of a fully integrated thermal processing line designed for continuous operation. By utilizing advanced fluid bed and immersion technologies, the new system provided a much higher heat transfer coefficient than traditional convective methods. This ensured that the wire reached the required metallurgical transformation temperature almost instantaneously, allowing for faster line speeds and significantly improved grain structure in the final product.

To address the need for modern oversight, the solution included a sophisticated SCADA interface that tracks every thermal variable in real-time. This digital layer allows AEMZ to create a “digital twin” of their production runs, providing full traceability for every batch produced. The integration of automated quenching and cooling modules further ensured that the transition from the furnace to the collection point remained stable, eliminating the risk of thermal shock.

The Result

There was no need for the customer to invest in a new welding machine. Thanks to the competent work of the Strecker service engineer in the USA and the support of specialists from our headquarters in Germany, the welding machine, which was over 10 years old, was made operational once again.

The device is being used optimally at the new location and delivers repeatable, high-quality welding results.

The employees appreciate the reduced effort required to operate the welding machine, as the work is easier to handle and the entire workflow is simplified.

Our native-speaker service engineer remains in regular contact with the customer and provides support with questions relating to operation, preventive maintenance or, as needed, repairs, and carries out training if required.
